First blog post

Hi all, welcome to my first post.  I will use this blog to track my progress for my project.  The idea of the project is to create a bicycle that will recharge a battery.  Although this type of project has been seen before,  I will be using a twist to make it more interesting. I will be also making a mobile app that people will be able to use with the bike.

The app will keep track of their the person’s distance traveled, energy created, max speed, average speed, etc. All of this will then be calculated into a scoring system and display to the user. So the whole system will be some sort of competition between every player.

So this is what I will be doing for the next 3 months or so.

Tutorials and more tutorials…

To start off the project, I will need to learn everything there is to know about the raspberry pi and Xcode.  To do so, I will be seeing a lot of tutorial through out the entire project.  So, in my first couple of posts, you will be seeing me experiment with the hardware and the software.

I will probably start off by connecting my raspberry pi to a software called pycharm. This will allow me to write and execute python code from a friendly environnement.

After this, I will be experimenting with the GPIO system.  I will look at how to use the breadboard to light up a small LED.

So there we go. This is going to be my first couple of weeks.  After all of this, I will be pretty much ready to work on my project. Make sure to stay tuned!
